"Lakeside Morning at West Chatfield Beach" - Print
“Lakeside Morning at West Chatfield Beach” depicts a quiet early morning at West Chatfield’s Beach at Jackfish Lake in northern Saskatchewan.
The family cabin is a sacred place for anyone. It is like a time capsule. The same boats, the same deck chairs strewn across the beach, the same plastic buckets forgotten in the sand adorn the beach year after year and capture the quintessential elements of carefree cabin life and summer.
This painting is a scene that has not changed much in the last 20 years. It is the same sail boat that is sat there, the same upside-down beached boat, the same Adirondack chairs, the beach toys scattered and I love it all. It is such a nostalgic image to me.
I hope that this composition catches your eye and entices you to add it to your collection.
Created as a part of the Prairies & Lakes Series. Learn more about this series, its inspiration, and sentiments that rooted my process, HERE.
This piece makes a wonderful diptych when paired with my “Mornings with a Snowshoe Hare in the Clearing” painting, which I worked on simultaneously with “Lakeside Morning at West Chatfield Beach”. Together they sing and balance each other.
