West Chatfield’s Cornfield - Original Painting

from CA$2,000.00

The Prairies & Lakes Series Collection: “West Chatfield’s Cornfield"

“West Chatfield’s Cornfield” is a painting of a field of corn plants receding in rows into a backdrop of trees and shrubbery in the morning light of West Chatfield’s Beach at Jackfish Lake in northern Saskatchewan.

The family cabin is a sacred place for anyone. It is like a time capsule. The same boats, the same deck chairs strewn across the beach, the same plastic buckets forgotten in the sand adorn the beach year after year and capture the quintessential elements of carefree cabin life and summer.

Behind the cabin are crop fields. This dichotomy of beaches and crops is how this series became names the Prairies & Lakes series, something that is unexpected yet marvellous about the Canadian prairies.

I hope that this composition catches your eye and entices you to add it to your collection.

Created as a part of the Prairies & Lakes Series. Learn more about this series, its inspiration, and sentiments that rooted my process, HERE.

A watercolour painting, 2020. Watercolour and gouache on cold press watercolour paper, in an elegant white frame and mat. 17’’ x 21’’.
