The Wind in the Willows - Original Painting
The Calgary Parks Series Collection: “The Wind in the Willows "
“The Wind in the Willows” is a watercolour of Calgary’s Bowness Lagoon is an illumination of the river bank where Rat and Mole feasted on a picnic in the bucolic spring sunshine in Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows (1908).
This series if comprised of paintings that marry a love of literature with Calgary’s extraordinary scenery and parks, with different ecosystems and microclimates, that have a story-like atmosphere that inspire the imagination. It carries a sense of wonder and poignancy which are evocative of scenes, prose, and settings found in well-known novels and plays to me.
“Calgary Parks” is about being a child again and seeing Calgary through the lens of a literary work or as a setting for a novel.
I hope that this riverbank captures the spirit of Rat and Mole and entices you to add it to your collection.
Created as a part of the Calgary Parks Series. Learn more about this series, its inspiration, and sentiments that rooted my process, HERE.
