The Boats of West Chatfield Beach - Original Painting
The Prairies & Lakes Series Collection: “The Boats of West Chatfield Beach"
“The Boats of West Chatfield Beach” captures the marooned activities of West Chatfield’s Beach at Jackfish Lake in northern Saskatchewan.
The family cabin is a sacred place for anyone. It is like a time capsule. The same boats, the same deck chairs strewn across the beach, the same plastic buckets forgotten in the sand adorn the beach year after year and capture the quintessential elements of carefree cabin life and summer.
This painting is a snapshot of the beach in the morning. When it is scattered with deck chairs, boats, beach toys, etc. quietly waiting to be vivified for the day.
I hope that this composition catches your eye and entices you to add it to your collection. Especially if you can find the toy car in it!
Created as a part of the Prairies & Lakes Series. Learn more about this series, its inspiration, and sentiments that rooted my process, HERE.
This piece makes a wonderful diptych when paired with my “Trembling Aspens on Day’s Road” painting, which I worked on simultaneously with “The Boats of West Chatfield Beach”. Together they sing and balance each other.
You can collect “Trembling Aspens on Day’s Road” HERE.
A watercolour painting, 2020. Watercolour and gouache on cold press watercolour paper, in an elegant white frame and mat. 17’’ x 21’’.
