Rainforest Palms - Original Painting

from CA$2,470.00

The Plantasia Collection: “Rainforest Palms" 15’’ x 11’’

“Rainforest Palms” depicts the ethereal gossamer light streaming through Kew Garden’s Palm House, a living laboratory. The Palm House houses tropical and sub-tropical rainforest plants from Africa, Asia, Australasia, and the pacific.

I spent the whole day at Kew Garden’s and the Palm House holds my heart to this day, and I am still doing paintings to capture the glory of Kew’s Palm House.

Housing tropical and sub-tropical plants from the depths of the rainforest, around every corner I was stunned by magnificent grand plants. With the morning light pouring through the windows, and the mist heavy in the air.

When it came time to paint this image, I was very excited to paint the waxy tree trunks, all of the foliage, and the sunlight flaring through the trees canopy.

With glowing light, this painting captures the eye level  perspective the depths of the rainforest, with a sliver of the glass house pathway to remind you that you are in a glass house living laboratory.

I hope that this piece entices you to imagine yourself in a glass house from your own home.
