Mornings with a Snowshoe Hare in the Clearing - Original Painting

from CA$665.00

The Prairies & Lakes Series Collection: “Mornings with a Snowshoe Hare in the Clearing"

“Mornings with a Snowshoe Hare in the Clearing” depicts a Snowshoe Hare with an abandoned boat lift, in a tree clearing, in the early morning along Day’s Beach Road at Jackfish Lake, in northern Saskatchewan.

Day’s Beach is the neighbouring beach of my families cabin. There is a nice walking path that cuts through a pair of fields connect the two. The backroad of Day’s Beach is surrounded by glorious lush greenery and fields. It is perfectly tranquil, has beautiful morning light, and the chance to see some illusive snowshoe hares.

This painting captures one of those elusive hares grazing on the grass with the light glowing through its ear. The boat lift in this painting is like a skeleton, it has been there for countless years and has become a part of the landscape. But forgotten machinery like this is a part of the prairie landscape.

I hope that this hare catches your eye and entices you to add it to your collection.

Created as a part of the Prairies & Lakes Series. Learn more about this series, its inspiration, and sentiments that rooted my process, HERE.
