Kew’s Leucadendrons - Original Painting
The Plant Portrait Series Collection: “Kew’s Leucadendrons "
“Kew’s Leucadendrons” is a watercolour portrait of a ‘Safari Sunset’ Leucadendron, and is a cone bush plant from the Proteaceae family.
This young flower grew in Kew Gardens Temperate Houses’ African bed, shortly after the glasshouses restoration was complete in 2018. It was the kaleidoscope of colours that inspired me to paint this plant. How the plant goes from green to yellow to purple to red and then back to green is very exciting.
I hope that this rainbow catches your eye and entices you to add it to your collection.
Created as a part of the Plant Portrait Series. Learn more about this series, its inspiration, and sentiments that rooted my process, HERE.
A watercolour painting, 2020. Watercolour and gouache on cold press watercolour paper, in an elegant white frame and mat. 17’’ x 21’’.
